Itinerary
Step off the plane at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, where our dedicated driver awaits you with a sign bearing your name, ready to extend a heartfelt welcome. Relax as our comfortable shuttle whisks you away to our delightful hotel, where a sumptuous meal awaits your arrival.
Immerse yourself in the serene ambiance of our hotel, complete with a refreshing swimming pool, picturesque garden, and inviting bar and restaurant. Later, join our expert Mountain coordinators for a pre-safari briefing, where you'll be enchanted by tales of the adventures that lie ahead. Start your day with a hearty breakfast, fueling up for the thrilling journey ahead. Following a comprehensive briefing, embark on a scenic 90-minute drive from Moshi to the Machame Park Gate, where your adventure into the lush jungle begins.
Upon registering at the gate office, step into the enchanting jungle realm, where towering trees and abundant wildlife await. Receive a lunch pack for the trail and hydrate with refreshing bottled water from the Evergreen Escape Drinking shop. Be prepared for the possibility of rain, transforming the forest into a mystical, muddy landscape.
As the day draws to a close, watch as twilight envelops the jungle canopy. The camp comes alive as porters boil water for drinking and washing, while the skilled cook prepares a delicious meal. Retreat to your cozy tent for a restful night's sleep, bracing for the cool temperatures that may descend upon Machame camp under the starry night sky.

Awaken with the first light in Machame camp, energized for the day's adventure that lies ahead. Following a satisfying breakfast, set off on a scenic hike, ascending through the verdant forest for about an hour until you reach its majestic canopy.
Continuing your ascent, traverse the undulating moorland zone for approximately two hours, soaking in the serene beauty of the landscape. Take a moment to rest and refuel with a delightful lunch amidst nature's splendor.
With renewed vigor, ascend a rocky slope, leading you to the expansive Shira plateau. Gaze eastward to behold the awe-inspiring sight of the Western Breach, adorned with glistening glaciers, offering a glimpse into the majestic grandeur of Kilimanjaro.
Arriving at Shira camp, nestled at 3,840 meters, the porters swiftly attend to boiling water for refreshment and meal preparation. As the sun sets over the vast expanse, anticipate a chilly night ahead, with temperatures plummeting below freezing. Amidst the crisp mountain air, savor the tranquility of the wilderness, embracing the rugged beauty that surrounds you.

As the sun casts its first golden rays over Machame camp, prepare for a day filled with both trials and triumphs. Following a hearty breakfast, embark on a journey that promises to test your mettle and reward your spirit.
The trail unfolds eastward, leading you through a rugged landscape of semi-desert and rocky terrain, culminating in the imposing presence of Lava Tower. After a strenuous five-hour trek, ascend to an elevation of 4630 meters, where lunch awaits in a tranquil setting.
The ascent to Lava Tower marks a pivotal moment, where some may encounter the first whispers of altitude-related discomfort. However, this challenging ascent is met with the exhilarating descent to Barranco camp, nestled at the base of the towering Barranco Wall.
Descending approximately 680 meters, the descent offers ample opportunities to capture the rugged beauty of the Western Breach and Breach Wall. As evening descends upon the valley, immerse yourself in the splendor of a breathtaking sunset, a prelude to a night spent beneath the starlit sky at Barranco Camp. Amidst the serenity of the mountains, cherish the sense of accomplishment and camaraderie forged along the journey's arduous path.
Barranco to Karanga Valley - Barafu camp (4550m), Hiking time: 7 hours

Start the day early with a wake-up call and a nutritious breakfast to fuel your journey. Today’s adventure includes the exhilarating climb up the famed Barranco Wall, a challenging yet rewarding stretch of the path. After conquering the Barranco Wall, descend into the picturesque Karanga Valley, where lush vegetation and breathtaking views surround you. Upon reaching the Karanga campsite, our chef will prepare a hearty meal to replenish your energy.
After lunch, set off for the Barafu campground, navigating through a variety of terrains, from rocky areas to moderate slopes. Along the way, marvel at the stunning landscapes and the rugged beauty of Kilimanjaro's high-altitude terrain. As you ascend, take your time to acclimatize, listening to your body to prevent altitude-related issues. Upon arrival at the Barafu campsite, our experienced porters will handle all arrangements, including tent pitching, while our chef prepares a nourishing dinner. After your meal, your professional guide will conduct a summit briefing, providing crucial information about the forthcoming summit attempt. The guide will cover the route, challenges, safety precautions, and necessary preparations. After the briefing, rest as much as possible, for the summit ascent begins late in the evening.

Altitude: 4,640 m – 5, 895 m – 3,090 m

Around 11:30 PM, you'll wake up, have some tea and biscuits, and then set off into the night for your summit attempt. The journey begins as you head northwest, ascending through thick scree towards Stella Point on the crater's rim. This 6-hour trek to Stella Point is often the most mentally and physically demanding part of the climb. Upon reaching Stella Point (5,685m), take a brief break to witness the most spectacular sunrise you will ever see, weather permitting.
From Stella Point, the ascent to Uhuru Peak takes about 2 hours and you will likely encounter snow along the way. The time you spend at the peak will depend on the weather conditions. Be cautious not to linger too long, as restarting your descent in the extreme cold and after reaching such heights can be very challenging. Savor your achievement, knowing this moment will be a treasured memory for the rest of your life.
The descent to Barafu Camp from the summit takes approximately three hours. Here, you’ll take a well-deserved but brief break to collect the rest of your gear before continuing your journey down to Mweka Camp. At Mweka Camp, enjoy a hearty dinner and rest overnight, celebrating your incredible accomplishment.

After a hearty breakfast at Mweka Camp, you'll embark on your final descent to Mweka Gate. The trek down is a chance to reflect on your incredible journey and the stunning landscapes you’ve traversed. Once you reach Mweka Gate, you'll be transported back to your hotel.
Upon arrival at the hotel, you'll be greeted with a delicious hot lunch and the luxury of a long-awaited hot shower, a perfect way to unwind after your adventure. As your journey comes to an end, it is customary and greatly appreciated to express your gratitude with tips for the guides, porters, and cooks who supported you throughout the trek. This gesture of appreciation is highly valued and a meaningful way to conclude your Kilimanjaro experience.
